The Wonder Weeks calls this systems. A system means several parts that belong together, such as the people, objects and order in a daily routine. Your toddler may copy a familiar job or act it out in play.
What to expect
- Copying a simple chore, such as sweeping.
- Using a toy in a simple way, such as pushing a car.
- Knowing what usually comes next in a familiar routine.
What can help
- Let them copy one safe part of an everyday job.
- Use simple words for what comes next.
- Remember that children learn these skills at different times.
